Questions, answered warmly
A few things people often wonder before reaching out. Have another question? Just ask.
Your intake session is mostly about getting to know each other. We'll talk through what brought you in, start identifying your goals, and build a plan together. There's nothing to prepare and no pressure — come exactly as you are.
No. Art-making is always optional and never required. Some people find it helps them reach feelings that are hard to put into words; others prefer to talk the whole time. We'll follow whatever works for you.
Simple, guided art-making — no skill or experience needed — used as a way to explore and process what you're feeling. It's the process that matters, not the finished product. As a board-certified art therapist, I'll offer it when it fits, always at your pace.
Private pay is $200 for the intake session and $175 per session after. I'm in-network with most private insurance and Medicaid (except Aetna Medicaid), offer a limited sliding scale, and can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
Yes. What you share in session is private and protected, with a few legal exceptions I'll walk you through up front (such as risk of serious harm to yourself or others). Your trust matters and I take it seriously.
All three. You can meet in person at the Roanoke office, virtually by secure video anywhere in Virginia, or mix the two — whatever fits your life best.
